Pakistan and Uzbekistan Strengthen Ties with New Agreements at SCO Summit

Astana: Pakistan and Uzbekistan have pledged to enhance their multifaceted relationship, focusing on trade, connectivity, defense, and cultural exchanges, as detailed in a recent meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the SCO Summit.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions underscored the strategic importance of Uzbekistan as a trade transit point and explored initiatives such as the Karachi Port Connectivity to Termez project to boost bilateral trade. Both leaders expressed confidence in the potential of the Preferential Trade Agreement and the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Transit Trade Agreement to significantly advance economic ties. Additionally, they discussed regional issues, including the situation in Afghanistan, and the potential benefits of the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railway Project for regional development and stability.
