Pakistan Engages Kyrgyz Government to Safeguard Citizens After Mob Violence

Islamabad, Following the outbreak of mob riots in the Kyrgyz Republic, the Government of Pakistan has swiftly engaged with Kyrgyz authorities to ensure the safety and security of Pakistani nationals affected by the violence. This action comes in response to the distressing events that unfolded last night in Bishkek, which impacted foreign nationals, including Pakistanis.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Kyrgyz authorities have expressed their regret over the incidents and have committed to conducting an inquiry to hold the responsible parties accountable. In a significant diplomatic move, Pakistan’s Foreign Office summoned the Kyrgyz Charge d’affaires today to express its concerns and demand stringent measures to protect Pakistani students and other citizens in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Embassy of Pakistan in Bishkek has activated emergency helplines and is currently addressing the concerns of affected students and their families. Ambassador Hassan Ali Zaigham remains in continuous contact with senior officials in Kyrgyzstan to oversee the situation. The Kyrgyz Health Ministry reported that four Pakistani individuals received first aid and were released, while another is receiving treatment for a jaw injury.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister has directed the Foreign Office to keep a vigilant watch on the developments and to provide all necessary assistance to ensure the well-being of Pakistanis in the Kyrgyz Republic. This high level of engagement underscores the Pakistani government’s commitment to the safety and security of its nationals abroad.
