Ottawa: The Pakistan High Commission in Ottawa, along with its consulates in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal, observed Kashmir Solidarity Day, emphasizing Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in their pursuit of self-determination. The event featured a range of programs, including pictorial exhibitions, documentary screenings, and media interactions, aimed at highlighting human rights issues in the region.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, the High Commission hosted a special event attended by members of the Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora, media representatives, academics, and human rights activists. Messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were presented, reinforcing their commitment to the cause.
Documentaries on the struggles of Kashmiris were shared across social and local media platforms. High Commissioner of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Saleem, addressed the gathering, condemning the treatment of Kashmiris and calling for international intervention. Saleem urged the global community to pressure India to cease human rights violations, revoke unilateral measures, and honor United Nations resolutions. He stressed the necessity of international efforts to resolve the conflict by ensuring the right to self-determination for the people of Kashmir.
