Lahore: A meeting presided over by the Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi in Lahore has decided to outsource passenger trains through an open auction.
According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting also resolved to revise the annual revenue benchmark of trains, for which a special committee has been constituted. The aim is to streamline operations and enhance the revenue-generating capacity of the railway services.
The meeting further informed attendees that Pakistan Railways will induct 295 high-capacity freight wagons into the system by March next year. This move is expected to bolster the freight capacity and improve logistics efficiency across the country.
Additionally, the transition to a fully online system for freight booking will commence next week, marking a significant shift towards modernization and customer convenience in the railways sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi expressed optimism about the future of Pakistan Railways, stating that the organization is moving in the right direction and that the public will soon witness tangible results from these initiatives.
