Islamabad, In a concerted effort to address the educational crisis, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, announced today that the government is formulating a new policy aimed at significantly decreasing the number of out-of-school children in Pakistan.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a meeting in Islamabad with Abdullah A. Fadil, the United Nations Children’s Fund representative in Pakistan, Minister Siddiqui emphasized the urgency of crafting a national consensus on this issue. He outlined plans to collaborate closely with all provinces and donor partners to ensure the effective implementation of the forthcoming policy.
The Minister also expressed appreciation for UNICEF’s ongoing support in Pakistan’s quest to provide equal access to quality education, especially to the most vulnerable and marginalized segments of the population. He highlighted the critical need for emergency measures to bridge the significant gaps in access to and quality of education across the country.
For his part, UNICEF’s representative, Abdullah A. Fadil, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s efforts to enhance educational access for all children, underscoring the importance of focusing on those who are most at risk of being left behind.
