Pakistan to Participate in COP-29 Climate Summit in Baku

Islamabad, The Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, H.E. Mukhtar Babayev, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today, extending an official invitation to participate in the upcoming COP-29 climate summit in Baku.

According to Press Information Department, during the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude for the invitation and noted the significance of the summit, particularly for climate-vulnerable nations like Pakistan, which has recently faced severe climate impacts, including the catastrophic floods of 2022. He committed to active participation and collaboration to address global climate challenges at the summit.

The discussions also touched on enhancing bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, with an emphasis on trade and investment. The Prime Minister reiterated his invitation to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan to visit Pakistan, reflecting the intent to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties further.
