Pakistan to Transition Balochistan’s Agricultural Tube-wells to Solar Power

Karachi, In a significant move towards sustainable agriculture and energy saving, the government has announced plans to convert agricultural tube-wells in Balochistan to solar power. The decision was made during a meeting in Islamabad, chaired by the Minister for Power, Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce energy consumption and support the farming sector in Balochistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Leghari has instructed officials from the Quetta Electric Supply Company to gather and provide detailed information regarding the feeders dedicated to agricultural tube-wells. This step is part of a broader effort to enhance energy efficiency and promote renewable energy sources within the country’s agricultural sector.

The transition to solar-powered tube-wells is anticipated to offer numerous benefits, including reduced electricity costs for farmers and decreased reliance on the national power grid, thereby contributing to environmental sustainability and the economic well-being of the agricultural community in Balochistan.
