Pakistan’s President Advocates for Enhanced Global Marketing of Gemstone Industry

Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari has emphasized the need for improved marketing strategies and global projection to boost Pakistan’s gemstone industry, highlighting its potential to significantly contribute to the country’s economic development.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a meeting held in Islamabad today, focusing on the development of the Gems and Jewellery sector, President Zardari discussed with Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry, the Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Gems and Jewelry Development Company, and senior government officials, the vast opportunities that the sector holds. The president underscored the importance of fully exploiting the potential of Pakistan’s gems and Jewellery sector for the advancement of the nation.

The discussions included encouraging foreign investment in the sector, which President Zardari believes could not only enhance the country’s economy but also create employment opportunities for the local population. Furthermore, he pointed out the necessity of training and skill enhancement for the local workforce and the diversification of the gems and Jewellery sector to elevate its contribution to the national economy.

The CEO of the Gem and Jewelry Development Company presented a strategic plan for the sector’s growth, outlining both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. The plan aims to navigate through these challenges while capitalizing on the inherent strengths of Pakistan’s gemstone resources to make a more pronounced impact on the global market.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to leverage Pakistan’s natural resources for economic gain, aligning with the government’s objective of sustainable development and wealth generation through the strategic promotion of local industries on international platforms.
