Pakistan’s Federal Minister Outlines Support for SME Development

Islamabad, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Industries and Production, emphasized the government’s commitment to bolstering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) during a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA). The meeting focused on the implementation of the National SME Policy 2021, designed to drive economic growth and innovation across the country.

According to Press Information Department, the briefing highlighted SMEDA’s strategic initiatives under the guidance of the Ministry of Industries and Production, including the establishment of a Consultative Group to support women-owned SMEs. The National SME Policy 2021 aims to offer a detailed framework for SME development, with special emphasis on enhancing women entrepreneurship.

The Federal Minister stressed the significant role of SMEs in economic development, innovation, and job creation, outlining the government’s priorities to incentivize and facilitate SME growth. The discussion also covered the need for human resource development within SMEs and the importance of women’s participation in the economy.

Efforts to streamline regulations, improve access to finance and technology, and implement structural reforms for SMEs were identified as critical steps toward achieving national economic objectives. The government plans to undertake immediate actions to support SMEs in their pivotal role in the country’s economic uplift.
