PM Anwar-ul-Haq Initiates Housing Project for 1989-90 Refugees in Muzaffarabad

Muzaffarabad: In a significant development for the displaced communities, Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq of the Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir laid the foundation stone for the construction of 750 permanent houses. The event marks a pivotal step in providing stable homes for the refugees of the 1989-90 exodus.

According to Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the ceremony featured the laying of the foundation by a representative of the refugees. The project is expected to cost approximately 3,096.050 million rupees and is slated for completion within two years. The initiative aims to address the long-standing need for durable living solutions for those displaced during the turbulent period at the end of the Cold War era.

The ceremony was attended by a host of dignitaries including Colonel (Retd.) Waqar Ahmed Noor, the Most Senior Minister, Minister for Rehabilitation Javed Iqbal Budhanvi, Raja Muhammad Sadiq Khan, Chaudhry Muhammad Rasheed, Malik Zafar Iqbal, Sardar Mir Akbar Khan, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, and Ms. Taqdees Gillani, indicating strong governmental support for the project.
