Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari has publicly praised the efforts of the Banking Mohtasib Pakistan (BMP) after it was reported that the ombudsman resolved over 25,000 complaints and delivered monetary relief totaling Rs. 1.26 billion to aggrieved bank customers in 2023. The commendation came during a meeting with BMP’s Sirajuddin Aziz, who presented the Annual Report of the organization to the President at Aiwan-e-Sadr today.
According to Press Information Department, during the meeting, the Banking Ombudsman discussed the critical role of BMP in swiftly addressing the grievances of banking customers, many of whom had suffered losses due to fraudulent activities. Aziz highlighted the introduction of a user-friendly online portal that has made it easier for customers to lodge complaints.
President Zardari underscored the importance of the BMP as a pivotal institution in providing free-of-cost justice and promoting good governance within the banking sector. He stressed the importance of continuing to adapt to technological advancements to improve the efficiency of complaint resolution. Additionally, the President emphasized the need to enhance public awareness of the Banking Mohtasib’s services to ensure that more citizens can benefit from its support in dealing with bank maladministration.
