Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Advocates for Enhanced Climate Resilience Ahead of COP-29

Islamabad, In a significant diplomatic exchange, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Mukhtar Babayev, who delivered a formal invitation for Pakistan to participate in the upcoming COP-29 conference in Baku.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate change, citing the devastating floods of 2022 as a recent example of the challenges faced. He expressed urgent need for global action to enhance climate resilience and assured full support to Azerbaijan in making COP-29 a success.

The Prime Minister also accepted the invitation to attend the conference and discussed the potential for deepening bilateral relations with Azerbaijan, particularly in trade and investment. He reiterated his invitation to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to visit Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts to address climate-related issues that disproportionately impact vulnerable countries.
