Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Represent Pakistan at WEF Meeting in Saudi Arabia and Islamic Summit in Gambia

Islamabad, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is set to represent Pakistan at the upcoming special meeting of the World Economic Forum on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, followed by his participation in the 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference in Banjul, Gambia.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch announced these engagements during her weekly media briefing. The Prime Minister, accompanied by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, will use the platform in Riyadh to discuss Pakistan’s strategic interests in regional cooperation and sustainable energy practices, aiming to align growth with responsible energy use.

Following the forum in Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister will travel to Gambia to address key issues at the Islamic Summit Conference on November 4. The theme of the summit, “Enhancing Unity and Solidarity through Dialogue for Sustainable Development,” aligns with Pakistan’s advocacy for unity and dialogue within the Muslim world. Prime Minister Sharif plans to raise critical topics, including the genocide in Gaza, the right to self-determination, combating Islamophobia, and confronting terrorism.

Additionally, the spokesperson addressed concerns over provocative statements by Indian leaders regarding Jammu and Kashmir. She emphasized that such rhetoric, driven by hyper-nationalism, threatens regional peace and stability, contradicting the established status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as an internationally recognized disputed territory. Baloch called on Indian politicians to refrain from using Pakistan as a tool in their electoral strategies and upheld the need for a resolution in Kashmir through a UN-mandated plebiscite.

These diplomatic visits by Prime Minister Sharif underscore Pakistan’s active role on the global stage, particularly in advocating for the interests of the Muslim world and upholding principles of justice and sustainable development.
