Prime Minister Suspends Revenue Officers Over Delays in Tax Cases

Islamabad, In response to prolonged delays in tax litigation, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has suspended the Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue Islamabad and other involved officers. This action aims to address the mismanagement of funds trapped in legal disputes, potentially amounting to hundreds of billions from the national treasury.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the suspensions mark a critical step in Sharif’s broader agenda to reform the tax system and fulfill his promises to enhance governmental efficiency. The Prime Minister emphasized the urgency of rectifying the current inefficiencies in tax case handling and declared his personal involvement in monitoring the proposed reforms.
