Islamabad, Mr. Mohyiuddin Wani, the Federal Secretary of Education, chaired a high-level International Partners meeting convened by the Malala Fund, Pakistan. The meeting was organized to discuss the Prime Minister’s Education Emergency Initiative and launch an Education Reform Coalition to support the Prime Minister’s Education Initiative, with leadership from the Federal Education Secretary.
According to Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Mr. Wani revealed that the Prime Minister is set to hold a conference in 10 days on Education Emergency Initiatives. The Prime Minister intends to establish an Education Taskforce as part of his education emergency strategy, with quarterly reviews of the ministry’s critical components to address the significant number of out-of-school children (OOSC). The initiative aims to reduce the number of OOSC from 26 million to 9 million.
During the meeting, Mr. Wani emphasized the need for scalable solutions and consistent messaging to generate momentum in the education sector. He urged donors and civil society to support the Prime Minister’s education agenda, highlighting the potential positive impact on reducing learning poverty. The convenor, Javed Malik from the Malala Fund, praised Mr. Wani’s commitment to mobilizing political will, underscoring the importance of utilizing such efforts to address education issues at the national level.
Other participants, including representatives from the World Bank, USAID, UNICEF, and JICA, contributed to the discussion by proposing various recommendations to support the Education Emergency Initiative. The meeting concluded with Mr. Wani encouraging all participants to work collaboratively, share best practices, and provide teacher training to achieve the initiative’s goals.
