Islamabad Forum Highlights Agriculture as Central to Pakistan’s Prosperity

Islamabad, The Green Pakistan Initiative forum, a major conference aimed at bolstering the nation’s agricultural sector, was held today, identifying agriculture as the critical backbone of the country’s economy.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the event was attended by prominent figures such as Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain, and Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir. The conference, which drew civil and military officials involved in national development, focused on a range of initiatives designed to enhance food security and agricultural productivity in Pakistan.

During the conference, the attendees were briefed on the Green Pakistan Initiative’s (GPI) recent accomplishments. These included the establishment of model farms, implementation of advanced water management schemes, introduction of technology innovations, and formation of investment partnerships. These efforts aim to modernize Pakistan’s agricultural practices and secure its food supply.

The Federal Ministers concluded the session by applauding the GPI for its role in transforming agriculture into a more efficient and sustainable sector. They expressed optimism that the initiative would continue to integrate contemporary best practices into Pakistan’s agricultural framework.

Army Chief General Asim Munir also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the fertile and promising nature of Pakistan’s land and the resilience of its people. He reiterated the military’s commitment to supporting the country’s economic initiatives, noting that such efforts are integral not only to economic security but also to the broader national security framework.

The conference underscored the vital role of agriculture in Pakistan’s development and the collective efforts of various sectors of the government and military to propel this initiative forward.
