Punjab Labor Minister Sets New Targets for Worker Contributions and Registration

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Labor and Human Resource Punjab, Mr. Faisal Ayub Khokhar, announced new initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare of workers in Punjab, including increased targets for worker contributions and registrations, and a third-party audit of the Labor Department.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 06 August 2024, Minister Khokhar praised the Punjab Employees Social Security Institution’s (PESSI) field directors for their significant recovery of contributions, the highest in fourteen years, under the leadership of Commissioner PESSI, Ms. Nadia Saqib. In a meeting held at the PESSI head office, the Minister outlined his plans to further improve labor welfare, including more stringent checks on field staff and a media campaign to educate stakeholders on the benefits of worker registration.

The Minister also committed to personally engaging with chamber of Commerce offices across Punjab to address issues faced by factory owners and workers, underscoring his dedication to ensuring all laborers receive their rightful medical and financial benefits without delay.
