Saudi Fund for Development Discusses Green Energy Projects with Pakistan’s Prime Minister in Islamabad

Islamabad, In a significant meeting in Islamabad, a delegation from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), led by Chief Executive Officer Sultan Bin Abdul Rehman Al Marshad, engaged with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to discuss ongoing and future green energy initiatives in Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister lauded the recent finalization of financial agreements totaling 107 million dollars for the construction of hydropower stations in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). These projects, highlighted for their potential to supply clean energy, combat deforestation, and create employment opportunities locally, underscore a mutual interest in sustainable development and environmental conservation.

During the discussions, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the urgency of advancing new ventures in green energy and infrastructure development. He articulated a vision where such initiatives not only catalyze Pakistan’s economic rejuvenation but also address the requirements of its communities, paving the way for a sustainable and prosperous future.

CEO Sultan Bin Abdul Rehman Al Marshad briefed the Prime Minister on the progress of several key projects, including the Mohmand Multi-purpose Hydropower Project, Golan Gol Hydropower Project, and Malakand Regional Development Project, all of which are being supported through Saudi grants. These engagements illustrate the depth of Saudi-Pakistan cooperation in energy and development sectors, marking a continuing partnership aimed at fostering economic stability and sustainable development.
