US Ambassador Meets Pakistan’s Finance Minister to Discuss Economic Reforms

Islamabad, In a significant meeting today, the US Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, met with Pakistan’s Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, to discuss ongoing economic reforms and bilateral relations.

According to Press Information Department, during the meeting at the Finance Division, Minister Aurangzeb briefed Ambassador Blome on the successful completion of the Stand-By Arrangement with the International Monetary Fund and outlined the government’s commitment to continue reforms in the finance sector. The discussions covered a range of topics including tax reforms aimed at increasing the tax-to-GDP ratio, digitization efforts, and bringing under-taxed sectors into compliance.

The Finance Minister also highlighted the government’s privatization plans for State-Owned Enterprises, such as Pakistan International Airlines, which have garnered interest from both local and international investors. Additionally, Aurangzeb mentioned the government’s initiatives to attract investment in agriculture, mining, and IT sectors. Ambassador Blome expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s reform initiatives and reassured continued US support to help Pakistan achieve economic stability and sustainable growth.
