Uzbek Foreign Minister Discusses Enhanced Cooperation with Pakistani Prime Minister

Islamabad, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, during a two-day visit to Pakistan, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today. The discussions centered on bolstering bilateral relations, particularly in trade, security, and regional connectivity, including a key railway project linking the three countries.

According to Press Information Department, the Uzbek Foreign Minister congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his re-election and extended an invitation from Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for an official visit to Uzbekistan. The meeting also focused on enhancing cooperation in various sectors such as trade, economy, security, and defense, as well as improving connectivity and people-to-people contacts between the two nations. The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expediting bilateral projects and providing Uzbekistan access to Pakistani ports, underscoring the strategic importance of the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railway Project for regional development.
