Waza denounces fresh arrest spree in occupied Kashmir

Srinagar, July 27 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, has castigated the authorities for fresh arrest spree in the territory. Mukhtar Ahmad Waza in a statement issued in Srinagar said that after the Gool massacre, the Indian troops arrested hundreds of youths during raids and lodged them in different police stations.

He said that the arrests would not help the occupation authorities to stop the Kashmiris from demanding their right to self-determination. He appealed to the international human rights watchdogs to take a strong note of the present situation of occupied Kashmir.

Reacting to BSF report that its personnel had fired upon protesters in self-defence, the APHC leader said that it was not new for the Kashmiris as the troops involved in the killings of innocent people continued to repeat the same theory for last over six decades and hence self-defence theory was their traditional one.

He also expressed solidarity with the victim of rape in Kistwar and demanded of the authorities to punish the member of the so-called Village Defence Committee involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, a party delegation headed by Shakeel-ul-Rehman visited the family members of Farhan Bukhari, who was martyred by Indian troops on July 28 in 2010 and expressed solidarity with them. The delegation comprised Shakeel-ul-Rehman, Javed Ahmad, Hilal Ahmad, Moulvi Javed Ahmad and Sareer Ahmad Bukhari.
