Islamabad, The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has recommended two significant infrastructure projects, totaling over 609 billion rupees, to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for further consideration. The projects include the Golen Gol Hydropower Project in Chitral and the first phase of the Karakoram Highway upgrade under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the recommendations were made during a CDWP meeting held today in Islamabad. The Golen Gol Hydropower Project, with a capacity of 108 MW and an estimated cost of over forty-two billion rupees, is expected to bolster Pakistan’s renewable energy capacity. Additionally, the China Pakistan Economic Corridor’s Karakoram Highway Phase-I, stretching from Thakot to Raikot and costing over 567 billion rupees, is aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and trade.
The CDWP’s decision to forward these projects to ECNEC marks a crucial step towards initiating these large-scale developments, which are pivotal for the country’s economic growth and infrastructure enhancement.
