CPEC Phase-II Ushers in New Era of Pak-China Cooperation, Says Info Minister

Islamabad, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar emphasized that the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is set to deepen the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China and catalyze economic progress and prosperity in Pakistan. This development signals enhanced cooperation across various sectors and strengthened ties at multiple levels of interaction between the two nations.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during an interview with Radio Pakistan in Beijing, Minister Tarar detailed the broad scope of the second phase of CPEC, which includes new investment opportunities and collaborative initiatives. Notably, during a visit to Huawei, an agreement was reached to provide IT education to 200,000 young Pakistanis, highlighting the educational component of bilateral cooperation. The Minister also stressed the government’s commitment to the security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan, prioritizing it even above the security of Pakistani citizens.

Further, Minister Tarar lauded China’s significant contributions to Pakistan’s development and supported Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision to enhance the operational functionality of Gwadar Port as part of the broader One Belt One Road initiative led by President Xi Jinping. He described the Pak-China relationship using vivid metaphors, asserting that the partnership is “sweeter than honey, deeper than the ocean, and higher than the Himalayas,” and affirmed the commitment to achieving a shared vision of prosperity.
