Demand for martyrs’ memorial erection is just: APHC

Srinagar, January 14, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has said that demand of Pulwama people for construction of a Martyrs’ Memorial is just and denying them the right to raise this memorial is completely against the democratic norms.

The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that it was height of repression that people were not being allowed to build memorials for the martyrs. Terming the sacrifices of the martyrs as the real treasure and asset of the ongoing resistance movement, the spokesperson said, “The value of the supreme sacrifices offered by the martyrs could not be measured by memorials only but these memorials definitely refresh the sacrifices in the minds of the people.”

He said that the Kashmiri people would continue their liberation movement till the mission of the martyrs was accomplished. He called for the immediate release of youth arrested in Pulwama for demanding construction of the Martyrs’ Memorial, and condemned the atrocities of Indian forces on the people of the area.
