Federal Government Bolsters Provincial Anti-Terrorism Efforts in Pakistan

Islamabad, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has reiterated the federal government’s commitment to supporting provincial efforts in combating terrorism across Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Tarar responded to a calling attention notice in the National Assembly, highlighting the review of the National Action Plan and the government’s focus on Intelligence-Based Operations aimed at eradicating terrorism. He emphasized that the federal government is providing maximum support to provincial governments, including extensive cooperation with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government to enhance the capabilities of its Counter-Terrorism Department.

Additionally, Tarar mentioned the commitment of the Sindh Chief Minister to install a safe city network in Karachi as part of efforts to fight crimes and terrorism effectively. He stressed that maintaining law and order is constitutionally the responsibility of the provinces and called for a unified approach to eliminate terrorism in the country.

The session also addressed other security measures, such as the placement of individuals on the Exit Control List, Provisional National Identification List, or Black List, which Tarar confirmed is conducted by request of investigation agencies following due procedure, clarifying that no parliament member is targeted by these lists unfairly.

Furthermore, the National Assembly adopted a resolution condemning the use of inappropriate language against women political leaders, emphasizing the importance of maintaining dignity for all women in politics. This resolution was moved by Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada.

The House is scheduled to reconvene tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.
