Islamabad: In a significant move to combat drug-related issues, Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi visited the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Headquarters on July 7, 2024, where he laid out a comprehensive strategy to tackle the narcotics menace.

According to Press Information Department, upon his arrival, Minister Naqvi was greeted by the Director General of the ANF, Major General Abdul Mueed. The visit began with a tribute at the Martyrs’ Memorial, where Naqvi laid a floral wreath, offered Fateha, and acknowledged the sacrifices made by those who had fallen in the line of duty.

During an important meeting at the headquarters, the Minister praised the ANF’s efforts against drug trafficking across Pakistan, despite facing resource constraints. He issued directives for a stringent crackdown on the drug mafia, emphasizing the need to shield future generations from drug abuse. The strategy includes vigorous actions against the sale and purchase of narcotics, particularly the drug known as ice, within educational institutions.

He also highlighted the need for a cyber drug control mechanism to curb online drug sales.

Acknowledging the severe impact of narcotics on families, Minister Naqvi called for immediate, multifaceted measures to address the growing drug problem. He stressed the importance of collaboration and determination in eradicating this peril, describing it as a monumental service to the nation.

The visit concluded with Minister Naqvi planting a tree in the ANF Headquarters lawn, symbolizing growth and renewal in the ongoing fight against drugs. Also present were Federal Secretary for Interior Khurram Agha and other high-ranking ANF officials.
