Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Greenlights National Drug Survey

Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has given the green light for the conduct of a comprehensive National Drug Survey, aiming to collect detailed data on drug usage across various demographics in Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Naqvi chaired a committee meeting in Islamabad where he directed officials to finalize the survey’s methodology and parameters within fifteen days. He emphasized the collaboration between the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics to develop the survey framework, including the nature of data required, sample format, and timeline. Naqvi also highlighted the importance of involving international development partners in the survey to enhance its effectiveness and reach.

The minister stressed the need for the survey to be authentic and comprehensive, asserting that it will play a crucial role in shaping effective policy decisions against narcotics. He also directed that the data collection should extend beyond homes to include educational institutions, slums, and other relevant locales, underscoring the no-compromise stance on the nation’s fight against drugs. This initiative comes as the first such survey since 2013, marking a significant step in addressing drug-related issues in the country.
