Minister Lauds Port Qasim’s Economic Contributions

Karachi, During his visit to the Port Qasim Authority (PQA), Minister for Maritime Affairs Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh emphasized the critical role of the port in bolstering the national economy and outlined plans to enhance its operational capacity.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Shaikh was briefed by the PQA chairman on the authority’s responsibilities and operational aspects. In a subsequent meeting with PQA officers, the Minister underscored the significance of PQA in the economic landscape of the country, elaborating on the development of industrial zones within PQA’s domain. These zones are designed to attract multinational companies to set up state-of-the-art industries, thereby propelling economic growth.

Further, the Minister detailed ongoing initiatives to augment trade, including the dredging of navigation channels and the upgrading of berths to accommodate larger vessels. These improvements aim to increase the port’s efficiency and capacity, reinforcing its role as a vital component of the country’s economic infrastructure.
