Islamabad, The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) successfully launched the PakSat MM1 satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in China today. This marks Pakistan’s second satellite launch, aimed at enhancing the country’s communication and connectivity capabilities as part of its ambitious Digital Pakistan initiative.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, PakSat MM1 is designed with advanced communication technologies to address the growing needs of Pakistan in various sectors, including broadband internet services. The satellite is expected to be operational by August this year and will significantly contribute to the socio-economic development of the country by improving connectivity, especially in remote and underserved regions.
The Foreign Office highlighted that PakSat MM1, a geostationary satellite, will reinforce Pakistan’s presence in orbit and is crucial for the country’s strategy to enhance satellite-based communication services nationwide. This development is poised to bridge the digital divide and support national development by providing a robust, independent national communication platform.
