Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with the outgoing Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Ambassador Khusrav Noziri, at the Prime Minister House today. The meeting focused on reviewing ECO’s initiatives and the significant reforms implemented during Amb. Noziri’s tenure.
According to Press Information Department, Amb. Noziri briefed the Prime Minister on his efforts to enhance the role of ECO as a key regional platform for economic cooperation. Prime Minister Sharif expressed appreciation for Noziri’s contributions and extended best wishes for his future endeavors, noting his educational ties to Pakistan’s Foreign Service Academy.
The Prime Minister also reiterated Pakistan’s strong support for ECO’s mission, emphasizing the importance of boosting intra-regional trade and continuing the reform agenda. He highlighted “ECO Vision 2025,” a critical document signed during the 2017 ECO Summit in Islamabad, which aims to advance regional economic integration.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Sharif expressed pride in the appointment of Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, a former Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, as the incoming Secretary General of ECO. This transition underscores Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to playing a pivotal role in ECO’s development. Amb. Noziri acknowledged Pakistan’s consistent support during his tenure, enhancing the dialogue and cooperation among member states.
