Pakistan’s Finance Minister Engages with Meezan Bank to Discuss Economic Progress

Islamabad: Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, convened a meeting today with a top delegation from Meezan Bank, including its Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Riyadh S.A.A Edrees, to discuss the bank’s contributions to Pakistan’s economic landscape and future collaborative efforts.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting, which also included the President and CEO of Meezan Bank, Mr. Irfan Siddiqui, Deputy CEO Syed Amir Ali, the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, and senior officials from the Finance Ministry, addressed the bank’s significant role in the region. Meezan Bank, noted as the largest bank in the Middle East, operates over 1,000 branches in Pakistan with more than 17,000 employees.

During the discussions, Mr. Riyadh praised the Pakistani government’s recent economic measures, which have positively impacted dividend payouts and remittance inflows, signaling a robust move towards economic stability. Minister Aurangzeb highlighted the positive trends in Pakistan’s macroeconomic indicators and the growing public confidence in the government’s economic management strategies. He detailed ongoing reforms in State-Owned Enterprises, the Federal Board of Revenue, the energy sector, and privatization initiatives aimed at enhancing the investment climate and ease of doing business.

The meeting concluded on a note of optimism, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to furthering economic growth and deepening the collaborative ties that benefit both Pakistan and its largest banking institution.
