Punjab Intensifies Focus on Worker Safety and Health on World Day for Safety and Health at Work

Islamabad, Today marks the observance of World Day for Safety and Health at Work, focusing on enhancing worker safety in light of the increasing impacts of climate change.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of this day in reinforcing the commitment to providing a safe and healthy work environment. She highlighted the Punjab Government’s ongoing Occupational Safety Drive, a collaboration with the private sector aimed at improving workplace conditions. Special attention, she noted, is being directed towards equipping workers with the necessary safety gear, underscoring that their protection is a fundamental responsibility of their employers.

Additionally, Nawaz announced forthcoming amendments to labor laws, stating that companies failing to uphold health and safety standards will face fines, reinforcing the government’s stance on strict compliance with occupational safety regulations.
