Uzbekistan and Pakistan Aim to Boost Economic Ties, Islamabad

Islamabad, In a meeting aimed at enhancing economic cooperation, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Aybek Arif Usmanov and Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan discussed strategies to strengthen trade relations between their countries. Both officials highlighted the importance of building on their existing friendly ties to explore new trade opportunities and sectors beneficial for mutual growth.

According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Usmanov commended Minister Khan’s political acumen and expressed optimism for the potential uplift in bilateral trade. The discussions focused on intensifying economic collaboration through business-to-business (B2B) and government-to-government (G2G) agreements. Upcoming visits by Uzbekistan’s foreign minister and deputy trade secretary to Pakistan were announced to further these discussions, aiming at enhancing the trade framework between the two nations.

Key sectors identified for potential growth include agriculture, pharmaceuticals, building materials, textiles, and leather. Both Usmanov and Khan stressed the need for improved connectivity and the development of new trade routes to facilitate increased trade volume. They committed to closely coordinating efforts to support the business communities in both Uzbekistan and Pakistan, reflecting a shared vision of bolstered economic relations and increased trade and investment opportunities.
