World Bank Offers Support to KP for Urban Property Tax Digitization

Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, Mian Khaliq-ur-Rehman, engaged in crucial talks with a World Bank delegation on Wednesday. The meeting centered around the digitization of urban immovable property tax and strategies to enhance the efficiency of tax collection within the province.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the World Bank has expressed its willingness to assist the Excise Department both in policy formulation and financially. The delegation laid out plans for enhancing the transparency and effectiveness of the province’s tax administration system. This includes the improvement of tax systems and revenue, the enhancement of tax monitoring, the upgrading of Taxpayer Facilitation Centers, and the implementation of a Smart Support Policy for public benefit.

Minister Khaliq-ur-Rehman expressed gratitude for the World Bank’s commitment to supporting the department’s modernization efforts. He voiced optimism that the partnership between the World Bank and the Excise Department would yield significant advantages for the residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the near future, heralding a new era of digital and streamlined tax collection.
