JKML condemns illegal detention of party leaders

Srinagar, May 24, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML) has condemned the continued illegal detention of its leaders, Hakim Showkat and Moulvi Sajjad, terming it political reprisal. The JKML spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that pro-India party National Conference-led puppet government was perpetrating innumerable atrocities on the people of Kashmir and now Omar Abdullah was openly admitting it.

He deplored that the authorities had been targeting the JKML leadership from the very beginning. “Party Chairman, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, has been languishing in jail for the last over 20 years and Vice Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, has been behind the bars since 2010,” he added. The spokesman deplored that despite several court orders Masarrat Aalam Butt was not released.
