JKNF demands release of Hurriyet leaders, activists in IOK

Srinagar, May 24, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir National Front (JKNF) has termed the continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders and hundreds of youth as state terrorism and demanded their immediate release. The JKNF spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that there could be no hope of any betterment from those whose hands are soaked by the blood of innocent Kashmiris.

He said that the continued house arrest of party Chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan and other Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Mushtaq-ul-Islam and hundreds of youth was clear proof of the authorities’ frustration.

The Indian oppression does not end here, as thousands of Kashmiri prisoners are languishing in the jails of India and the territory for years without any trial. Some of them have even completed their jail terms but still they are not released. A large number of prisoners is not produced before courts in time resulting in their prolonged imprisonment, he deplored.

The spokesman said that such kinds of oppressive tactics were common in the territory and the irony was that India and its local collaborators still claim high about justice and democracy.

He said that India must shun the way of oppression in Kashmir, otherwise, the future historians will bring New Delhi and its local collaborators on the same pages with other oppressors.
