Islamabad, Chief of Pakistan Navy, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, recently represented Pakistan at the 19th Western Pacific Naval Symposium in China, where he engaged with naval leaders from around the world to discuss maritime security and the blue economy.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Admiral Ashraf held meetings with several prominent naval figures, including the Commander of the US Pacific Fleet, the First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff of the Royal Navy, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Federation Navy. The symposium’s theme, “A Shared Future with the Sea,” underscored the collective responsibility of the participating nations to address emerging threats in the maritime domain and to harness ocean resources for economic growth sustainably.
The Admiral also met with naval chiefs from Indonesia, Bangladesh, South Korea, Singapore, and the Acting Deputy Commander of the Brunei Navy. During these discussions, he emphasized the Pakistan Navy’s vital role in promoting regional and global maritime security and its commitment to the sustainable development of the blue economy.
The Pakistan Navy has been an observer at this symposium since 2014, and Admiral Ashraf’s recent participation is seen as a significant step towards strengthening bilateral cooperation with other naval forces to enhance peace and security in international waters.
