Islamabad, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has called for an intensification of bilateral ties between Pakistan and Turkiye, highlighting the importance of cooperation in trade, defence, connectivity, and culture. During a meeting with Turkish Ambassador Dr. Mehmet Pacaci in Islamabad, the Prime Minister underscored the deep-rooted relations between the two nations, anchored in shared history, religion, and culture.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussion touched on several critical areas of mutual interest, with a particular focus on achieving a $5 billion annual trade target. Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude for Turkiye’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with Turkiye concerning the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Ambassador Pacaci conveyed congratulations from Turkiye’s leadership on Prime Minister Sharif’s re-election and emphasized the significance of fortifying the fraternal bonds between the two countries. The Prime Minister also celebrated the successful flight of Turkiye’s KAAN 5th generation fighter aircraft, viewing it as a milestone in Turkiye’s defence achievements.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Sharif renewed his invitation to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Pakistan, noting that such a visit would enhance bilateral consultations during the upcoming 7th session of the High-Level Strategic Coordination Council. This visit is eagerly anticipated by the people of Pakistan and is seen as an opportunity to further deepen the strategic partnership between the two nations.
