Rich tributes paid to victims of Gaw Kadal massacre

Srinagar, January 20, 2021 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations continued to pay tributes to the victims of Gaw Kadal massacre on the eve of their 31st martyrdom anniversary. Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Muzahamat Chairman Bilal Ahmed Sidiqui in a statement while reiterating appeal for complete strike in Srinagar, tomorrow, said that the Gaw Kadal was one among the worst massacres carried out by Indian occupational forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

Terming the month of January as the deadliest month for the Kashmiris, he maintained that the worst massacres like massacres of Gaw Kadal, Sopore, Kupwara and Handwara took place in the occupied territory, which claimed hundreds of lives of innocent Kashmiri civilians.

Hurriyat leader, Javaid Ahmed Mir, in a statement said that the Kashmiri people had given huge sacrifices for the right to self-determination promised to them by the UN. He said Gaw Kadal martyrs sacred their blood only for freedom from Indian bondage. He urged the international community to come forward and fulfill its responsibilities in mitigating the sufferings of the Kashmiri people.

The Chairman of Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, in a statement in Srinagar termed the Gaw Kadal carnage as a black chapter in the history of IIOJK. He deplored that the victims of this mass killing were still awaiting justice despite the passage of over three decades.

Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Istiqlal, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, and General Secretary Abdul Hameed, in a joint statement said that hundreds and thousands of Kashmiri people had sacrificed their lives for the freedom cause. Expressing full solidarity with the families of the martyrs, they said,” Brutal Indian forces are spilling the holy blood of Kashmiri youth in the valley with each passing day.”

The Democratic Political Movement (DPM) organized a prayer meeting in Baramulla in memory of the martyrs of Gaw Kadal. It was presided over by the party General Secretary Pir Hilal Ahmed.
